We hope you are all keeping well and successfully dodging the showers! Hopefully the warm weather will return soon, and those of you with dogs that enjoy swimming might like to have a read about dog friendly pools, hydrotherapy and swimming safety in the latest article in the ‘longer reads’ section of our website.

We are welcoming a new team member this month. Daisy will be joining the reception team, based mainly at Clarendon Street to cover Alaina’s maternity leave. Daisy is a quick learner with great customer service skills honed during her time working at Waggy’s Dog Centre in Abington. The job of the surgery receptionist can be busy and demanding, answering phone queries, some of which will be urgent, emotional and complex, keeping on top of PetsApp messages and emails, taking payments, greeting all our lovely clients and much more besides. We are confident Daisy will take it all in her stride, but if you meet her on reception, please give Daisy your biggest smile to help her settle in.
Most of the pets that walk through our surgery doors are dogs and cats, but we do also treat exotics, including rabbits. Rabbits haven’t always fared so well as pets, as their needs for company, space, enrichment and proper nutrition have not always been properly understood. Rabbit Awareness Week (RAW) runs from June 22 –26, and this year's 20th-anniversary campaign features the theme "Feeding Bunnies Better." If you’d like to learn more about how to keep rabbits healthy and happy, there is lots of great information on the Rabbit Awareness Action Group (RAAG) website.

Weather permitting, we will be running the dog show at the Stapleford Village Weekend from 5.30pm on Saturday 27th June. The four categories are Handsomest Dog/Bitch, Waggiest Tail, Golden Oldie (over 7 years) and Best Rescue, and there is a spectacular rosette for the dog judged to be the overall ‘Best in Show’! Entry is £2 per dog per category, with all proceeds going to the Village Weekend fund. For more info or to buy tickets, visit

There are lots of other fun events over the course of the weekend including cream teas, a quiz night and an environmental themed film night. We hope to see some of you there!
With very best wishes, Harriet, Patrick and all the CSV team.
