CSV COMMUNITY
Clarendon Street Vets has been very much a part of the local community for over 60 years. Church Street Vets opened in Stapleford in March 2025, and we are equally keen to get involved in village life.
We are lucky to have many lovely and interesting clients at both our surgeries. Our ‘Pet of the Month’ feature gives us the opportunity to highlight pets who have been particularly challenged and brave, but we thought it would also be great to celebrate the achievements of some of the ‘local heroes’ who frequent the surgery.
In addition, CSV community gives us a space to tell you about the local artists who are exhibiting their work at Church Street Vets, and the local charities and community groups we will be supporting with our Paws & People donations, so please do keep an eye on this section of the website.

OUR CHARITIES
Supporting Local
We wanted to do something a little bit different in our Paws & People plan, and give back to the local community. Each quarter, we will choose 3 local charities/ community groups. £1 from each monthly Paws & People subscription will be donated to these causes.
Clients can ‘vote’ with a token for their preferred recipient when visiting the surgery, and at the end of the quarter we will divide the funds accordingly.
Our three charities/ community groups this year are:
-
Cambridge Cancer Help Centre offer support to those affected by cancer. The Great Shelford Centre offers a warm welcome and access to a range of holistic activities to enhance mind, body and spirit during a challenging time. They believe that no-one should feel alone with a cancer diagnosis and are on hand, to help for as long as they are needed.

In her will, Mary Challis, a lifetime Sawston resident, left her Victorian House and 2-acre garden to people of Sawston and the surrounding villages. The Challis Trust, established in 2007, promotes the permanent preservation of the garden's natural flora and wildlife and to establish and maintain a museum devoted to the history of Sawston village. Mary was a great animal lover, keeping docks, chickens and cats in her beautiful garden, and was a long time client of the practice.

Shelford and Stapleford Strikers Football Club (SASS) is one of the county's largest youth football clubs. It is run by volunteers and supports the development of over 220 youth players from Under 6s to Under 18s. Their mission is to provide football opportunities for as many local youngsters as resources will allow; developing players’ individual footballing and team-working skills through both coaching and participation in competitive games.
SASS is committed to ensuring that football is enjoyed by all in a safe and secure environment, and aims to support the improvement of the local sporting infrastructure.

Local Heroes
Gone but not forgotten
The saddest part of our job is saying goodbye, and we often receive lovely photos of pets who are no longer with us. If you would like to send a photo or memory of companion we would love to help their memory live on.
