Church Street Vets is a new, independent small animal practice opening in Stapleford this March. Our main surgery, Clarendon Street Veterinary Surgery, has looked after the pets of central Cambridge for over 60 years.
An increase in pet ownership in the past few years means we have outgrown our small but characterful premises, so we have made the exciting decision to open a branch surgery, serving the villages of South Cambridge and beyond.
We are keen to take our current ethos of independent, friendly veterinary care to our newly refurbished surgery, which offers three consultation rooms, separate dogs and cats hospitalisation and waiting areas, a fully equipped theatre and plenty of parking.
We are really looking forward to meeting clients and pets, both old and new, and growing into our new branch surgery.

Meet the Team

BVSc MRCVS
VET & DIRECTOR
Patrick qualified as a veterinary surgeon from The University of Berlin in 1992. He spent time working in Norfolk and Northumberland before moving and settling in Cambridge. In 1998 he took over the clinic, running it alone until 2018 when he was joined by his niece, Harriet. Patrick has a passion for wildlife and conservation and has recently completed his Masters with the University of East Anglia.
He lives at home with his family, their dogs, Dudley and Toast and Wolfie the cat, another one of Samba’s kittens.

VET & DIRECTOR
Harriet graduated from Bristol in 2012. She spent a few years at a small referral clinic in London before moving to Cambridge in 2018 to become a partner in the practice.
Harriet loves being part of the team at CSVS, enjoying the variety the job brings. She has a particular interest in internal medicine.
In her free time Harriet enjoys exploring the outdoor space that Cambridge has to offer with her family, and loves being outside in the garden.

VET
Maria graduated from the University of Cordoba in 2004 and has since worked in a number of UK practices, from Inverness to the Isle of Wight.
She joined the Clarendon Street team in 2022 and has really enjoyed getting to know our clients and their pets.
In her spare time María loves spending time outdoors in nature with her friends and family. Animals have always been her passion so to be a vet and able to help when they become unwell is the most rewarding part of her job.

MA VetMB MRCVS VET
Rachel graduated from the University of Cambridge in 2020 at Emmanuel college and has enjoyed working as a small animal vet in St Neots and Newmarket since. She joined our team in March 2025 and has a particular interest in ophthalmology.
Outside of work, Rachel volunteers as a Girl Guide leader and enjoys camping. She loves spending time gardening, baking and swimming, when not busy with her family and Hungarian Vizslador, Samson (who likes to keep Rachel on her toes!)
She is really looking forward to joining our team and getting to know all our lovely clients and their pets!

REGISTERED VET NURSE
Sarah graduated in 2022. She started her training at a busy RSPCA clinic and then spent a few years at a small animal practice in Bishop Stortford. Prior to nursing, Sarah completed a degree in Animal Behaviour and Welfare. She loves all aspects of veterinary nursing, but has a particular interest in anaesthesia.
Outside of work, Sarah enjoys time spent walking her black Labrador, Delta, and has musical aspirations. The piano is ready in the living room, she just needs to learn how to play!

REGISTERED VET NURSE
Amber graduated with a degree in Veterinary Nursing from Anglia Ruskin University in 2016. Her particular interest is in diagnostic imaging, but
her favourite aspect of the job is the variety… Every day is different!When not at work Amber loves spending time with dogs, Chip and Freddie. Amber also enjoys the gym and keeping fit and is due to
complete a particularly gruelling challenge for charity this autumn.

REGISTERED VET NURSE
Catriona graduated as a Veterinary Nurse in 2009, and has worked in small animal clinics in Essex ever since. She really enjoys working in smaller practices, where she can get to know the patients and their owners.
Cat shares her home with live with her husband and their cats, rabbits and chickens. When not spending time with her pets, she enjoys growing vegetables on her allotment.

RECEPTION & ADMIN
Anna is a former BBC researcher with a passion for the natural world and birds of prey in particular. She used to work as a falconer and animal trainer at Banham Zoo and moved back to Cambridge to complete her BSc and MSc in Animal Behaviour.
Anna hopes to train as a vet in 2025. When she is not working or caring for her significant collection of animals she enjoys wildlife photography, bird watching and rehabilitates sick and injured wildlife and abandoned pets for the local RSPCA.

RECEPTION & ACCOUNTS
Nancy has worked at the practice on and off for nearly 25 years so is a familiar face with many of our clients. She studied Animal Behaviour and has worked in lots of different roles within the veterinary industry including shelters, sales and teaching. Nancy shares her home with a collection of animals including 1 dog, 2 cats, and 5 chickens, and in her spare time enjoys gardening and folk music!

RECEPTION
Tania is a Stapleford resident, although you might not guess that from her accent!
When not working at the surgery, Tania enjoys playing tennis locally and travelling, especially to visit her children who escaped to New York and Sydney.
Her love of travelling means she is currently without a canine or feline companion, but her previous dogs have all been Golden Retrievers and she still has a soft spot for the breed.
Tania is really happy to be a new member of this wonderful family practice. Tania has spent many years working with children, and is now looking forward to working with animals instead!

RECEPTION
Georgie also lives close to the surgery and brings with her many years of experience in the newspaper and retail industry. She loves all animals, but especially her two dogs, Airedale terrier Olive and Miniature Wire-Haired Dachshund Nell. She has also taken on the role of guardian to her son’s aquatic frog and his many pet fish! When Georgie is not busy with work and family, she loves being creative, baking, going for long walks and occasionally sneaking off to the cinema!

Alison joined the Church Street Vets reception team in March 2025. With 35 years of administration under her belt, she is ultra-organised and thrives in a busy environment.
Alison is mum to cats, Bert and Ernie, and two grown-up daughters. In her spare time she loves reading, musicals, the countryside and being a supporter for her daughter’s photography business.

David qualified from Cambridge Veterinary School in 1988 knowing from the start that he wanted to devote his professional career to veterinary ophthalmology.
He worked at the Animal Health Trust and the Royal Veterinary College where he undertook a PhD in ocular immunology. This remains one of his main interests, although cataract epidemiology and exotic animal ophthalmology are also high on the list! David has written books and book chapters in ophthalmology and spoken on the subject internationally. He also has interests in animal welfare and how his Christian faith impacts on his veterinary work. He runs the ophthalmology clinic at the Queen´s Veterinary School Hospital and is happy to see any cases or discuss them by phone 07939074682

Hanna Crook, of HC Veterinary Physiotherapy will be offering physiotherapy sessions for dogs at our Church Street practice every Monday from the 24th of November.

Hanna, who runs HC Veterinary Physiotherapy, holds a master’s degree in veterinary physiotherapy and is fully insured and RAMP-accredited, ensuring your dogs are in skilled and caring hands. Hanna is passionate about supporting each animal’s individual needs; creating bespoke, tailored treatment plans to help them live their happiest, most comfortable lives.

Paddy qualified from Glasgow in 1989 having wanted to be a vet since she was 4. She is committed to providing high quality diagnostics with a patient orientated ethos and remains very aware that imaging is only one part of the diagnostic work up for any patient.
Cambridge radiology referrals, established by Paddy in 1998, is one of the UK’s most experienced providers of outpatient imaging. Their service is very different from many others in that each patient is seen by a radiologist who directs and is present throughout the whole procedure. They will make decisions about the type of scan, additional areas, additional procedures, and whether biopsy is possible and appropriate, ensuring they get the maximum information from the procedure.
